Rafael van der Vaart reveals ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes said an 18-year-old Harry Kane 'can’t do a damn thing' in training as Dutchman tells England captain to move to Manchester United rather than move abroad

Rafael van der Vaart revealed that former Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes thought Harry Kane 'couldn't do a damn thing'.

The Spurs legend played at White Hart Lane when Kane was working his way through the ranks at senior level and at the time, not everyone in the Spurs squad rated him very highly.

Kane has since gone on to prove his doubters wrong, scoring 215 goals for the club in all competitions.

Explaining Gomes' opinion on Kane, Van der Vaart told Ziggosport: 'A nice story, when he first came to train with us, he was eighteen years old, and I swear to you, Gomes, our goalkeeper at the time, said: he can't do a damn thing.
