Premier League clubs consider blanket social media boycott next weekend as they unite to fight against racist abuse online... with Spurs and Man City set to go silent for the Carabao Cup final

A blanket boycott of social media by Premier League clubs is being considered for next weekend.

On Monday, Sportsmail revealed a growing number of sides are ready to send out what they hope will be a powerful, symbolic message — in the wake of the torrent of racist abuse suffered by players in recent months — by going offline at the same time.

And it is understood the prospect of a blackout from Friday April 23 to Monday April 26 has now been mooted. Such a move would see Tottenham and Manchester City go silent on their social media channels for the Carabao Cup final on the Sunday.
