Mauricio Pochettino 'embarrassed' by Tottenham defeat but refuses to blame Champions League woe on Wembley

Mauricio Pochettino was left 'embarrassed' as Tottenham's Wembley hoodoo continued to leave their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

In front of an English club record attendance of 85,512, Spurs flopped as they lost to a largely dominant Bayer Leverkusen thanks to a solitary Kevin Kampl goal.

Having struck a deal to play their European games - even in the Europa League - at Wembley, Pochettino's side have now lost both their Champions League games at the famous stadium.

But the Spurs manager offered a brutal and honest assessment of his side's performance, saying the burden of playing at Wembley has nothing to do with his side's disappointing display.
