Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has received a personal apology from Port Vale's owner after he was sent racist abuse online following Saturday's League Two clash.

Former Tottenham and Liverpool youngster Vigouroux revealed two sickening messages he received privately on Instagram after his side's 3-2 loss and added 'football such a beautiful game ruined by people like this.'

The matter is being probed by the police after the messages were reported while Port Vale launched an investigation.

Owner Carol Shanahan also offered her sincere apologies to Vigouroux.

Vigouroux said: 'She messaged someone I know who plays for Port Vale and the messages were passed on which is a nice touch from her.
