Erik Lamela will not be involved in Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Brentford on Tuesday, just days after he was pictured breaching Tier 4 coronavirus regulations by attending a Christmas party.
Spurs indicated internal action would be taken after a photograph circulated on social media ahead of their 3-0 win over Leeds on Saturday that showed the trio of Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilón at a gathering with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini. There were 15 adults and three children in the picture.
Lamela, who featured in Tottenham’s previous two games, was subsequently not involved against Leeds, while Reguilon was on the bench and Lo Celso is injured.
