Ian spent two years at Spurs between 1976-78 before a five-year stint at APOEL between 1983-88, where he helped the Nicosia-based team win the Cyprus Cup in 1984 and title in 1986.

Sadly, he passed away aged just 43 in January, 1998 after being diagnosed with cancer in September, 1997.

Tuesday night's fixture was played in memory of Ian. APOEL supporters displayed a huge banner behind one of the goals - almost the full width of the pitch, pictured above - stating 'A legend who played for the legend'.

APOEL also made a presentation to Ian's sons, Mike and Richard, on the pitch 30 minutes before kick-off.
