He and his San Diego Loyal team walked off the pitch after an alleged homophobic slur was directed against their openly-gay midfielder Collin Martin, forfeiting the match and any hopes of making the USL play-offs in the process.
Morgan and Donovan have been two of the biggest soccer stars in the US for the last decade and the new Spurs signing voiced her solidarity with the former Everton forward and his squad.
