Jimmy Greaves remains in hospital and his family have issued a message of thanks to the NHS staff and to fans for their support.
Greaves, 80, was taken to hospital near his home Essex earlier this week.
He has been in poor health since a severe stroke five years ago but doctors do not think he has suffered another stroke.
