Haaland scores goals for Man City, so why all the criticism?

Striker Erling Haaland helped Manchester City achieve the treble last season and claimed the personal distinction of winning the Premier League Golden Boot. A year on, history looks set to repeat itself, but this time around the Norway international is doing it with criticism ringing in his ears.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane described Haaland as "League Two standard" following his ineffective performance in last month's goalless draw against Arsenal at the Etihad, while former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said at the weekend (after a 5-1 win over Luton where he scored a penalty) that the 23-year-old is a "world-class finisher but not a world-class player," adding that he is the "ultimate luxury footballer.
