EXCLUSIVE: Referees' group PGMOL are split over releasing audio of VAR blunder which saw Liverpool denied a goal in 2-1 defeat at Tottenham - after Reds demanded to hear it

Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal at Tottenham has sparked a split at the top of the referees’ group, Mail Sport can reveal.

Senior figures at PGMOL disagree over whether the audio should be released in the aftermath of the error which cost Liverpool a goal on Saturday.

They have received a request from Liverpool for the tape of the conversation between referee Simon Hooper, VAR Darren England and his assistant Dan Cook.

It was argued by some at the refereeing organisation that they should ‘own’ the mistake by showing immediate transparency but that view met with opposition.
