Eric Dier may have been jointly awarded Man of the Match alongside team-mate Sergio Reguilon after Tottenham's win over Newcastle but a comedy gaffe threatened to spoil his display at St James' Park.
After 89 minutes, Tottenham looked to have the win secured with a comfortable 3-1 lead and Newcastle down to 10 men but the hosts managed to reduce the deficit thanks to Dier.
The England international was guilty of a horrendous own goal. As Jacob Murphy’s free-kick from the right dipped awkwardly in front of him, he ducked towards the ball, missed an attempted header and kneed the ball emphatically into the far corner.
