England captain Harry Kane is set to receive the Freedom of the City of London in January for his 'outstanding sporting achievements' - after leading the Three Lions to the Qatar World Cup this winter

Harry Kane will be awarded the Freedom of the City of London in January.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker captains England's national men's side, is the third-highest Premier League scorer of all time with 193 goals and is on track (51) to overhaul Wayne Rooney's record Three Lions total of 53 goals.

Kane, 29, from Walthamstow in East London, is set to receive the gong at a special ceremony because of his 'outstanding sporting achievements'.

He said: 'I am extremely proud and grateful to be awarded the Freedom of the City of London award.
