BREAKING NEWS: Tottenham turn to former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca - Jose Mourinho's predecessor at the Serie A club - as Spurs 'meet with Portuguese boss over three-year deal' over head coach role

Former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is set to become the new Tottenham manager, according to reports in Italy.

Spurs have struggled to find the long-term successor to Jose Mourinho as head coach, with the Portuguese boss sacked by owner Daniel Levy in April amid a string of poor performances.

Levy has tried to hire former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers and former Inter Milan head coach Antonio Conte since the end of the season.

And various sources, including Sky Sports Italia, claim Fonseca's - Mourinho's predecessor at Roma - are deep in negotiations over a three-year contract at the north London club.
