Harry Kane cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's opener for Dortmund before Son completed the turnaround to ensure Tottenham finish ahead of Real Madrid at the summit of Group H with one game to spare.
Dortmund opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, with Andriy Yarmolenko slipping in Aubameyang, who fired a low strike beyond Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham came close to finding an equaliser a few minutes before the break when Christian Eriksen saw a close-range effort saved by Roman Burki, who then tipped away an Eric Dier header a few moments later.
