Let’s get this out of the way first: What DeMar DeRozan has been doing for the Raptors over the first three games of the 2016-17 NBA season is awesome. This is an undeniable fact. You can slice up all kinds of efficiency and usage stats to figure out the long term usefulness of DeRozan’s game. You could do that. Or you can just marvel at the fact he’s averaging 35 points per game while shooting 54 percent from the field and hitting some tough-ass shots in the process. Folks, that’s good.
And, as others have mentioned, the Raptors have needed each and every one of DeRozan’s 105 points over those first three games.
