Toronto Raptors: The case for and against keeping Dwane Casey

Following a 2017 sweep to the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, General Manager Masai Ujiri announced the team needed a “culture reset”. Many believed that was coded language, signaling an upcoming coaching change.

Yet, no change was made. Ujiri pulled the rope-a-dope on all the Toronto and NBA media, electing to bring coach Dwane Casey back to start the 2017-2018 season.

Instead the “culture reset” that Ujiri was referring to, was the team’s playing style. The Toronto Raptors made significant changes to their offensive scheme, relying on a balanced, egalitarian approach that relied heavy on ball-movement and keeping everyone involved.
