At the end of every season, there are only 15 players in the entire world can call themselves NBA Champions. Every FIBA World Cup, just 12. To win either championship in a given year is an incredible accomplishment; to win both is historic. Toronto Raptors center, Marc Gasol, has made history.
The FIBA World Cup occurs once every four years and has been occurring since 1950 (although the talent-level saw a serious uptick in 1994 when the United States started adding NBA players to the roster). In the history of FIBA and the NBA, there has only been one dual-champion (Lamar Odom 2010), and there has never been a player born outside of the United States to win both.
