Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry diagnosed with left ankle sprain

Kyle Lowry is out indefinitely with a left ankle sprain, the Raptors announced mid-day Monday.

The all-star guard was injured in the first quarter of Sunday’s series-clinching win over the Brooklyn Nets when he inadvertently stepped on the foot of Nets guard Chris Chiozza.

Lowry left the game with was originally termed an ankle problem, coach Nick Nurse said after the game it was an issue with the arch of his foot but after a magnetic resonance imaging test on the NBA’s campus near Orlando, there was a revision to the original injury.

“His condition will be updated as appropriate,” the team said.
