At first, Patrick McCaw didn’t seem like someone who would be featuring for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals. He didn’t register a single minute against the Milwaukee Bucks and was less than a peripheral figure against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Then, against the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, he checked in and played in six minutes ahead of Norman Powell, who was the seemingly obvious option for the eighth spot in the rotation.
The two split the minutes fairly evenly. But it comes across as very surprising that Powell only played four minutes in Game 1, considering his impact in the Eastern Conference Finals.
