Three NBA coaches let go as carousel begins again

The moves were quick and not unexpected as the culling of the NBA coaching ranks has begun in earnest and there is more likely to come.

Sam Mitchell helped a young Minnesota Timberwolves team get better and massaged the workload of the promising Karl-Anthony Towns well enough that Towns is assuredly headed to rookie of the year honours.

Fired.

George Karl went through a tumultuous season with the Sacramento Kings dealing with oft-suspended mercurial centre DeMarcus Cousin, a hands-on owner in Vivek Ranadive who loves to be front and centre and a general manager in Vlade Divac who is very much learning on the job.
