The Raptors’ season-long calm is preparing them for the potential storm

Stone-faced they walked off the Oracle Arena floor, nary a smile on their faces, no outward signs depicting the enormity of the accomplishment and what it meant.

It’s been that way all season for the Toronto Raptors. They possess a steadiness and a calm that championship teams have, and even a 3-1 series lead and a seeming stranglehold on an NBA title did not excite them too much Friday or overwhelm them on Sunday. It’s hard to imagine the possibilities of Monday altering their collective approach one iota.

If there is one trait that makes this version of Raptors stand above all those that came before it, it’s that ability to not get caught up in big moments because it’s the small moments that make them possible.
