It’s an unconventional way to do business, to say the least. But then, Raptors president Masai Ujiri is nothing if not unique.
This week the Raptors re-signed their head coach, Nick Nurse, to a multi-year contract extension, even though they’ve yet to announce the re-signing of their general manager, Bobby Webster. And while a new deal to keep the savvy Webster in the fold is “close,” as Ujiri told reporters in a post-playoff-elimination press conference on Thursday, that’s as high up the chain as the executive contract talk has yet to reach.
Negotiations between the organization and Ujiri have yet to be initiated.
