In one sense, you have to hand it to the Brooklyn Nets as a franchise. Sure, they’re owned by an Russian oligarch who [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted], and they went all-in on a long-term investment strategy that involved the husks of Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett, which was enough to win one single playoff series (I’m not bitter) and set the franchise back by literally four hopeless years, but you know what else: they haven’t given up.

That’s got to count for something, right? Despite having no high lottery picks coming even with all of that on-court futility, despite being not much more than, essentially, a real estate money grab for some billionaires, despite having no real reason to even play the damn games, the Brooklyn Nets keep running out there.
