Raptors think outside the box with Pascal Siakam at point guard in L.A.

LOS ANGELES—Point Pascal.

Sort of has a ring to it, doesn’t it?

Facing a rather significant roster crunch and a dearth of experienced point guards, the Raptors are going to see what the six-foot-10 Pascal Siakam can do facilitating the offence, at least until Kyle Lowry returns from his fractured left thumb.

It’s something coach Nick Nurse has been talking about since training camp, but now it’s become a necessity and unleashing Siakam’s myriad skills began here in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.

It’s not like Siakam is a point guard in the traditional mould — taking an outlet pass after a missed shot, or an inbounds pass off a surrendered basket, and walking the ball up the court while calling some scripted play — but he’s going to get more of an opportunity to at least getting the Raptors organized.
