MIAMI—As Fred VanVleet made the three-pointer that moved him into second place on the Raptors’ all-time list, coach Nick Nurse beamed.
A couple of hours before VanVleet moved past Morris Peterson on the list — VanVleet trails only Kyle Lowry for made threes –— his coach was suggesting he get up more shots. Teams may be paying particularly close attention to the Raptors’ most accomplished shooter but he still has to fire away.
“I think, too, there is some he’s turned down … that I was expecting him to pull the trigger on,” Nurse said before the Raptors rallied late to beat the Miami Heat 98-90 on Monday.
