Raptors poised to add Montreal’s Khem Birch after he clears waivers to help with front-court problem

The Raptors seem poised to solve at least a bit of their front-court problem.

NBA sources confirmed multiple reports that say Toronto will add Montreal’s Khem Birch to the roster after he was placed on waivers by the Orlando Magic on Thursday.

Birch, 28, appeared in 28 games, starting five, for the Magic this season, averaging about 20 minutes a game.

The six-foot-nine Birch is known primarily for his defence and rebounding abilities, two dire needs for the Raptors as they try to climb back into some kind of playoff contention in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
