Raptors pay tribute to the father of the Triangle Offence by running it

The importance of basketball history, the significance of groundbreaking coaches and the need to pay homage to those who paved the way for others to follow is not lost on Nick Nurse.

And given the chance, the Toronto Raptors coach paid tribute to an icon on Thursday night.

NBA coaching legend Tex Winter, who was part of eleven league championship teams with the Chicago Bulls and L.A. Lakers, died this week at the age of 96. Winter was perhaps best known as the inventor of the so-called Triangle Offence. During the first quarter of their game against the New Orleans Pelicans Thursday night, the Toronto Raptors paid tribute to Winter by running the Triangle Offence.
