Lamenting his team’s abysmal performance in Saturday’s Game 4 loss, it was interesting to hear Raptors all-star DeMar DeRozan recite a specific statistic from memory.
He pointed out that he’d been credited with four assists, in case the rest of us had neglected to read the box score of another Toronto playoff debacle best forgotten.
Maybe he wanted it to be remembered that he’d actually passed the ball. Maybe he figured it was a way to look selfless while also passing the buck.
“A lot of the time I found guys and we missed a lot of easy shots we normally make, so with that I could have had eight or nine assists,” DeRozan said.
