Raptors’ Lowry uses his head to combat throbbing thumb in Eastern final

Pain is a constant companion for Kyle Lowry these days.

It’s with him when he dribbles and when he fights over screens, when he stands in the middle of the lane and welcomes a collision with a bigger man. He feels it when he shoots and when he passes — not excruciating agony, but pain.

Constant pain.

And to fight it off, he shrugs.

“Whatever,” the Raptors point guard said. “You gotta be mind over matter.”

Lowry is battling a left thumb sprain suffered in that final, dramatic win over the Philadelphia 76ers and it’s been with him through now three games of the NBA Eastern Conference final against the Milwaukee Bucks.
