Vince Carter, who became a global basketball phenomenon during a seven-year tenure with the Toronto Raptors, has closed the book on the longest career in NBA history.
The 43-year-old officially announced his retirement on his “Winging It With Vince Carter” podcast Thursday morning, bringing to an end a storied career.
“I’m officially finished playing basketball,” Carter said. “I’m officially done playing basketball professionally.”
Carter was obtained by the Raptors from the Golden State Warriors in a pre-arranged trade at the 1998 NBA draft and went on to play 1,541 NBA games over 22 seasons with eight teams.
