Kyle Lowry wanted to be wowed.
That’s what the veteran Raptors point guard told Peter Kanis, president of Windsor, Ont.-based Baron Championship Rings, when the Canadian company became one of three jewellers vying to design the band that would commemorate Toronto’s first-ever NBA championship in the 2018-19 season.
It’s exactly the response Kanis — whose company has previous designed rings for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto FC and the Toronto Argos — got.
“Shock and kind of in awe,” Lowry said of his initial reaction. “I think that’s the reaction that I got and that’s going to be the main reaction, where everyone’s going to be in shock and awe.
