All the way through their second game of Preliminary Round basketball, Lithuania played a hard-fought game against Nigeria that resulted in a final score of 89-80. The keys to this match are Nigeria’s tremendous defense at the start of the game, Lithuania’s third quarter scoring outburst and, once again, a quiet Jonas Valanciunas.

Nigeria played the first half of the game by depriving Lithuania of playing their offense adequately. Their defense was nothing short of agitating; at last, the Lithuanian players matched their intensity before things became too frustrating on their end. At 41-36, Nigeria held a five point-lead at half-time and forced Lithuania to commit eight turnovers.
