If you search “Toronto Raptors ugly” in Google News you get more than 59,000 results, with many coming in recent articles about the play in the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs.

The one constant so far has been how the play has been characterized as ugly basketball by the players themselves and the media covering it. That certainly hasn’t stopped a record number of Canadians from tuning in and, with a Game 7 on the horizon, those numbers can only get better.

The struggles of the Raptors’ all-star guards had been the big story of Toronto’s run, but even with a return to form the past two games, the ballooning number of bandwagon fans who have only recently joined the Raps’ journey have been subjected to some of the most brutal basketball played by the team this season.
