Fred VanVleet’s absence from the Raptors’ lineup will be for longer than anticipated.
According to a report on The Athletic website, VanVleet’s injured left thumb will require surgery and keep him out for five weeks, instead of three as the team originally announced on Monday.

VanVleet was injured in the first half of Toronto’s game in New York on Saturday, but played in the second half.
