Raptors’ end-of-rotation battle open after Patrick McCaw injures thumb

The Raptors are seeking clarity but getting cloudiness as the final 10 days of the NBA regular season roll around.

The team announced Saturday that Patrick McCaw will miss at least three weeks with a sprained right thumb. And while it is not a devastating turn of events, it does muddy the one minor decision still to be made — filling the last spot in the playoff rotation.

McCaw had been doing all the things Raptors coach Nick Nurse needs — playing disruptive defence and providing just enough offence to keep opponents off guard — to earn consistent minutes.
