Raptors, Cory Joseph grateful for his time with Spurs

As Tristan Thompson’s star has risen in Cleveland over the last four years, he’s been waiting and watching as his good friend and long-time teammate took a different path.

While Thompson jumped into a starter’s role with the Cavaliers in his second year, Cory Joseph in a sense was still in school, studying under professor Gregg Popovich for four seasons in San Antonio at Spurs U.

In that time, Joseph settled into a backup point guard role behind Tony Parker and Patty Mills. He spent time in the D-League and saw action in 57 combined games his first two years.
