As Tristan Thompson’s star has risen in Cleveland over the last four years, he’s been waiting and watching as his good friend and long-time teammate took a different path.
While Thompson jumped into a starter’s role with the Cavaliers in his second year, Cory Joseph in a sense was still in school, studying under professor Gregg Popovich for four seasons in San Antonio at Spurs U.
In that time, Joseph settled into a backup point guard role behind Tony Parker and Patty Mills. He spent time in the D-League and saw action in 57 combined games his first two years.
