Raptors Aron Baynes and Chris Boucher understand their roles, they just don’t know how big they will be

If the free-agent departures of Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka marked the end of a short era over the weekend, a new age began Wednesday.

The Raptors officially announced the multi-year contracts of Aron Baynes and Chris Boucher, deals that reportedly span two seasons each, worth $14.3 million (U.S) and $13.5 million, respectively.

Saying goodbye to two mainstays is never easy, and Baynes and Boucher are hardly like-for-like substitutes for Gasol and Ibaka. But one thing hasn’t changed: Raptors coach Nick Nurse has developed a system that is clear to both an outsider like Baynes and a returning playing like Boucher.
