Raptors 905 have to start all over again

It’s a crazy thing, this G League.

You build a team so that others may prosper, you win and you will lose players. It’s all about development and creating opportunities from which you might never benefit.

It’s illogical and it takes a special mindset to even try to pull it off.

“I think you kind of just need to rewire the way you approach it,” says Dan Tolzman, general manager of the defending D-League champion Raptors 905.

Few basketball executives will be wired quite the way Tolzman is, as a matter of fact. He built a D-League team that last year posted one of the best seasons in league history, won the first championship under the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment umbrella and — poof!
