The Toronto Raptors will have to find a new head coach for their D-League affiliate, as Jesse Mermuys will join Luke Walton’s coaching staff with the L.A. Lakers.
NBA analyst Dave Miller reported that Mermuys, 35, who spent the past year as the head coach for Raptors 905 in Mississauga, will work alongside his Arizona alum, Walton, who was hired to coach the Lakers on April 29.
Mermuys was an assistant on Raptors coach Dwane Casey’s staff for two years before becoming the 905’s inaugural coach (he was also assistant general manager). His team went 23-27 this season.
