Nikola Jokic? Joel Embiid? NBA award voting is all about making difficult choices

There was one very difficult, very vexing question that drove some of the key components in the balloting for the NBA’s post-season awards: Could voters rationalize making either Nikola Jokic or Joel Embiid a forward to allow them both to be first team all-NBA players?

I couldn’t.

It’s not that I’m right and anyone who decided the other way is wrong. I wrestled with it for a long time and almost talked myself into it. In the end, I couldn’t do it.

I don’t imagine I’ll be in the majority when the final votes are revealed sometime near the end of the playoffs and that’s fine.
