Toronto Raptors starting shooting guard DeMar DeRozan has officially joined the 2016 free-agent market as he exercised the early termination option in his contract, reports Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com.
The news to opt out was expected by the June 15 deadline, and once the 2016-17 salary cap year begins on July 1, DeRozan's agent will likely take calls from several teams, including -- potentially -- the Los Angeles Lakers. Recently, Raptors GM Masai Ujiri said re-signing DeRozan is a top priority for the organization.
"Our number one goal is to bring DeMar back here," Ujiri said.
