The most valuable thing Nik Stauskas has learned on a journey pockmarked by great highs and low lows is perspective.
He knows now that his self-worth is not measured by three-point shooting percentage or salary or the exalted status as one of 450 people on Earth who have the job that he does. And that realization may one day lead him back to the pinnacle of his profession.
If it doesn’t? Well, he knows now there are other things that matter just as much.
“I think what this whole experience has taught me is that there’s a lot more to life than just basketball,” Stauskas said Monday.
