It is no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers are focused on adding a second star player. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka were able to convince LeBron James to bring his talents to Hollywood. However, they were not able to sign a second star to play alongside James next season.
Instead, the Lakers signed veterans Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley to one-year contracts, with an eye towards 2019. There are a number of high-profile players that can become free agents next summer. The list includes Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving and DeMarcus Cousins.
