Jabari Parker says better offense wins championships

A day before defensive specialist Marcus Smart signed a big contract with the Celtics and the same day the Raptors acquired two-time defensive player of the year Kawhi Leonard, new Chicago Bulls forward Jabari Parker said "they don't pay players to play defense."

Parker signed a two-year, $40 million contract with his hometown Bulls, trying to resurrect his career after two knee surgeries led the Bucks to let him walk.

According to basketball-reference.com, Parker has 4.3 defensive win shares over four seasons. Leonard had 4.7 in his last full season in 2016-17 and has 24.
