It’s hard to describe just how poorly Fred VanVleet was playing to start this postseason. He couldn’t make a shot, he was dribbling the air out of the ball on offense, and at one point, was playing so poorly, there were calls to take him out of the Toronto Raptors rotation entirely.
But just a few weeks — and one child– later, things have flipped. VanVleet has been one of the most productive players on the team over the past series-and-a-half, providing the Raptors with three-point shooting, secondary playmaking, and the best defense on Stephen Curry you could ask for.
