It’s not that the Raptors need to learn how to win. It’s that they have to remember what it takes to win, and that’s what was behind a sluggish start to this season.
The talent is still there — half a dozen players possess NBA championship rings and those don’t go to just anybody — but the mental acuity was just a bit off.
Maybe it was complacency, maybe it was a short off-season that didn’t allow them to fully recharge, maybe it was a short pre-season. Many possibilities, all legitimate and, in some way, unacceptable to a team that expects greatness of itself.
