Perhaps you’ll remember the first time Dwane Casey returned to Toronto as coach of the Detroit Pistons.
It happened around this time about a year ago. And given that Casey arrived as the reigning NBA coach of the year — an award he collected not long after being fired by the Raptors — let’s just say the dynamic was awkward at best. Certainly the outcome of the game seemed to mean more to Casey than it did to anyone else in the gym that night. It’s hard to forget the coach’s reaction when old Jose Calderon fed Reggie Bullock for the buzzer beater that won it for the visitors.
