It was 60 years ago this season that Wilt Chamberlain pulled off one of the great feats of endurance in the history of the NBA.
Chamberlain, of course, was a singular star whose list of career accomplishments — including a game in which he scored 100 points and a season in which he averaged more than 50 points a game, both NBA records that still stand — remains beyond staggering. But Chamberlain, who died in 1999 at age 63, was quoted as saying more than once that he considered his most impressive record to be one or endurance, specifically the NBA-record 48.
