DeRozan-less Raptors squeak by Pelicans in overtime

The season wasn’t hanging in the balance, because there remains all kinds of basketball to play and things both good and bad are still to happen, but the Toronto Raptors never needed more than what they got Tuesday night.

Minus DeMar DeRozan and plagued again by shipshod defence for most of the night, the Raptors managed to secure a 108-106 overtime win over the New Orleans Pelicans that will at least lift some of the cloud that has been hanging over the franchise for a couple of weeks.

It was just Toronto’s second win in seven games and kept them within half a game of the Boston Celtics for second in the Eastern Conference.
