Delon Wright has shoulder surgery – Raptors must backfill

Our eye was caught with the depressing news about Delon Wright. The Toronto Raptors’ second-year point guard was injured in a Summer League game. He has undergone surgery to repair a labrum tear in his right shoulder, and will be lost to the team for at least four months.

Assuming the time estimate is accurate, Delon won’t be back until early December, after which he’ll need a rehab assignment with the Raptors 905. We won’t see Delon with the big team before 2017.

The timing of Fred VanVleet signing a Raptors contract couldn’t be any better; he’s the obvious beneficiary.
